A few of years ago, I was lacking a bit in passion for life & I wanted to have a hobby, something that would take me away from the everyday, something that I could do to get back to being creative again. I always loved to take photos & have heaps of photos I have collected over the years, so I thought Photography would be great. I also chose Photography because my sister was pregnant with her first child & we were planning on having a family soon & I wanted to be able to capture the precious moments that were to come & create a record of time for them in years to come.
As time has passed over those few years, I have found that I mostly love to capture a couple of things. Everyday stuff, my daughter, my dog, our everyday life. It may have something to do with my poor memory, because they are the moments I find I forget. It's like capturing a piece of my life, a record of my journey, my story. It may also have to do with the fact that I am not a great storyteller, I am kind of quiet, I have a poor memory & I am not the most articulate person. So, as simple as my life may be, it is something that I want to cherish, to remember & to share. The other thing I love to capture is little adventures. I get excited about these the most because it is on these little adventures that I feel free. I never know what I am going to find & I can get totally lost in whatever draws my eye. There is no set destination. I just go where my eye takes me, stopping along the way . At the end of it when I've shot 100's of photos, I feel rejuvenated, in touch with life, with the world around me, with my spirit & it gives me a peace that I can not explain. It is something that I feel. If I had to give it a word. I would call it Passion & it keeps me going until the next adventure arises. i Love it!
Just reading back over this post, it's kind of ironic really. I chose photography when I was lacking passion for life & wanted something to take me away from the everyday but in capturing the everyday I found my passion in life & it helped me to renew my passion for life.

Those first two baby pictures right after the strawberries are precious, you have perfectly captured magical moments in the life of a little one. I also love those two little hands holding on to each other which captures a heart-felt moment.
ReplyDeleteoh those cute little baby feet just make my heart melt! wonderful post! i feel the same way about photography...i want to capture "those" everyday moments that i never want to forget
ReplyDeleteLove your shot of the two tiny feet in the adult hands. You captured the moment wonderfully.

I love your photos, they are beautiful and they capture something special. :D
ReplyDeleteYou say that you are not an articulate, but this was beautifully written. I can feel your heart in it. That's the key to wonderful photographs and words, in my mind - your heart. I love how you wrote of photography: "I feel rejuvenated, in touch with life, with the world around me, with my spirit & it gives me a peace that I can not explain." YES!! That's passion. I feel the same.
ReplyDeleteI like that you photograph to cherish and remember and to share. I love the photo of the two hands, it is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed looking at this range of photos, from lovely landscapes to close ups of the bird and the baby's feet. I love the little detail of the red twine in the bird's mouth.
ReplyDeleteDear Chelle, thank you for your lovely comments on my blog. What a beautiful post and I LOVE your photos. They are gorgeous! I am so happy for you that you found your passion in life!
ReplyDeleteHi Chelle. Your photographs are beautiful, beautiful. The strawberries and baby feet really caught my eye. And I love your gift cards, I hope they do well for you! Your post is extremely well written! I am quiet like you.
ReplyDeleteI love that you have come full circle from lacking a passion, to finding a passion....yet there will always be more to discover. Fantastic.
ReplyDeleteKathy
..in capturing the everyday I found my passion in life & it helped me to renew my passion for life.
ReplyDeleteTHIS is what I hope to discover for myself in 2012!
I love your eye for detail and color and texture and form and....well, I simply loved all the photos. And you taught me something today: it has never occurred to me to take photos of horizons with lots of sky and little land. I hope to go try that myself later this week.
Your photos are amazing. I was in that same boat a couple of years ago.. Lack of passion.. I was definitely searching for a purpose.. I started making cards and put them on my blog, but the photos were not to good.. So that is when it all changed.. My love for photography began.. I fill like I have found my passion! So nice to meet you in this class!!

I loved to read your words.. In some way I feel empowered with my camera, and when I see all the beautiful pics I shoot I feel some kind of happiness (even if there's just one really good among 100! =0). Great photos you have here, it's hard to elect one favorite. The flower is stunning! Good job!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning photos!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos! The clasped hands is my favorite; it looks like a good story. I love that you chose photography because you lacked passion for life, and in photography you found your passion.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful photography! I love that you also use your photos to make cards...I do that also because it feels like I am sharing a piece of myself more with the person receiving the card. I've stamped cards, but it isn't the same feeling as when I put one of my own photos on the front. I love that you found a passion for life again through your photography. As I read through the different journals in this class, I find it so inspirational how each person has found something special in one common hobby, photography. It's an amazing journey, and I'm so happy I have met you through this class. Thank you for coming over to my photojournal.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautifully written and gorgeously illustrated post! Your thoughts about "feeling rejuvenated and in touch with life" really resonate with me! Your passion for photography and life is apparent. Great to be in class with you, too:)
