the monthly mosaic: april
themes: love & strength
colour: crystal clear
April is a pretty special month in my household. My baby turned two & I couldn't be more in love with her..she is changing so much everyday & so full of life & little suprises..being a parent is bliss in lots of ways but I can also say that it takes a lot of strength to muddle through the everydayness of it as well...there are times I feel so weak & others strong...the rewards of parenting are tremendous & I know we are not alone. I hope when she grows up she lets me hold her hand & love her the way I do now.
In working with the themes for this months mosaic..the self portrait you see above was inspired by a little shutter sisters post that I came across..here is my original unprocessed version..I think it takes some inner strength & a little self love to show our proof. What do you think? I never thought of self portraits as proof until I read this post & I think I'll try to include a few more of me in our family snaps for the future, they kind of shout 'I was here'. I know I love looking at images of my parents when they were younger..maybe mine will treasure them too.
On a side note..it's kind of funny that I have been noticing I'm processing images in Black & White a little more lately. I usually love bright vibrant images..it's kind of a nice change..maybe it has something to do with the weather (it's autumn over here & been very wet at the moment).. maybe its a time for decision making..or maybe I'm just having some monochromatic fun. So to continue that fun I've just signed up to a new workshop 'Picture Black & White' by Tracey Clark. I had so much fun at christmas time with the 'Picture the Holidays' project that I thought I would love to do another one of the 'Picture' series. I probably shouldn't be signing up cause I'm behind on alot of things & i'll be in Bali for part of May BUT I thought I might incorporate use of all the great camera apps for this one & see how creative I can get with my iphone..i can't say that I wont use my camera either..its too much fun! So if you're looking for a fun photo project check it out. Registration closes 9th of May.

Happy April everyone!!

What a lovely posting, Chelle! I love your April mosaic and like the feeling of calmness that the black and white images give me.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great self-portrait, your face says a lot and I feel you have been on a long inner journey. I love all the other parts of your mosaic: the holding of hands, the running tap and the Trésor perfume bottle (I have a feeling it's by Lancôme?!)
I liked what you said about self-portraits - I never thought of them as proofs before. I'm going to look at the link you give!
I'm part of a self-portrait group called "In the Picture". We post of Flickr. Go and have a look! Some people are so imaginative! I'm finding it a huge challenge, but also fun... it's a real inner journey!
Nice to exchange news!
Mosaics are such a quick fun way to look at multiple activities combined on one glimpse with the eye. Yours is very drawing to me with the monotone coloring. My eyes catch the intended feature of each photo and not distracted by multiple colors. I like gazing at your eyes, the bow on the perfume, the water running, and clutch of the hands. Your selfie is wonderful. I haven't managed one yet to be worthy to keep (delete). I hope you enjoy your new photo challenge.
ReplyDeleteHi Chelle,
ReplyDeleteSomehow I can never manage to comment on your site - maybe this time I will be lucky. I just wanted to say two things: 1) I am also toying with the idea of signing up for Picture Black and White with Tracey. So tempting... And 2) I think you look stunning and SO exotic (having met you in real life!) and I would love - one day - to get the chance to photograph you! I was too shy to ask you the last time we met! :Z
Success!
